It wasn’t long after the arrival of Saad Ad-Deen Al-Hariri in Lebanon on 14/02/2016 in remembrance of the anniversary of his father’s killing when events began to escalate and in particular stemming from Saudi which announced on 19/02/2016 the cancellation of what remained of the aid it had been providing to arm the Lebanese army and the internal security forces.

On 22/2/2016, various media agencies published the text of the joint statement issued by the United States and Russia on the truce which stated:“... Lebanon woke up on the 14th of January 2016 to the news that the one who had brought explosives into Lebanon which had been handed over to him by the criminal Syrian regime had been let free.
