In the Name of Allah, The Gracious, The Merciful Muslims Demonstrate in Support of Libyan Uprising and Condemnation of Gaddafi Brutality

21 February 2011, Sydney, Australia - A large crowd attended a demonstration in Western Sydney this evening organised by Hizb ut-Tahrir Australia in support of the recent uprisings in Libya in particular, as well as other parts of the Muslim World such as Bahrain, Algeria, Yemen, Jordon and Syria.

A number of key messages were delivered by the speakers and protestors:

 1. Support for the brave Muslims who were standing up to the despotic regimes in the Muslim World. In particular the Muslims of Libya have shown great courage in the face of a brutal suppression by Colonel Gaddafi, in which hundreds have been massacred.

 2. Denouncement of Colonel Gaddafi's regime, and others in the region, as being agents of western colonial states such as American, Britain and France. These rulers have long oppressed the people, ruling over them with an iron fist, whilst Western Governments have propped them up through diplomatic, financial and military ties, expediently turning a blind eye to their blatant tyranny.

 3. Unequivocal condemnation of Western interference in the Muslim World, the call for America and Britain to cease using the Muslim World as an imperial backyard, and for Australia to stop blindly following these nations in what is a brutal and grossly inhumane foreign policy.

 4. Caution against being deceived by illusory change such as a change of faces or cosmetic tweaks of the regime. These are the sorts of things Western Governments will now push for in order to frustrate a true revolution and to maintain their political and economic stranglehold on the Muslim World.

 5. Demand for real change, represented by the entire political system being dissolved and replaced by the Islamic system of governance, known as the Khilafah "Caliphate" (Caliphate).

 6. The Caliphate represents a system in accord with the people's beliefs, values and history, an independent path from colonial subservience, the fulfillment of the basic needs of all people, Muslim and non-Muslim alike, and the procurement of a just rule for all in the Muslim World.

 The loud and vocal gathering raised slogans and placards including, "Gaddafi, go home to London!", "Muslims reject western-backed dictators", and "Time for real change! Time for Islam and Khilafah "Caliphate"!"
