The Anniversary of the Destruction of the Khilafah (Caliphate) is Not for Mourning, But a Call for Serious Work to Restore It
(Translated)

These days mark a painful anniversary, the anniversary of the destruction of the Khilafah (Caliphate) at the hands of the criminal of the era, Mustafa Kemal, in collaboration with Arab traitors on the 28th of Rajab, 1342 AH (March 3, 1924). Since that time, the Islamic Ummah has lived without a Khilafah to protect its dignity and honor, while we witness with our own eyes the atrocities committed by the brothers of apes and pigs in Palestine, killing, destruction, and crimes against our people there. Meanwhile, discussions about the "Deal of the Century" have resurfaced, aiming to liquidate the Palestinian cause in favor of the Jewish entity. The Muslim Ummah is also witnessing persecution, bloodshed, and destruction in East Turkestan, Kashmir, Myanmar, Central Asia, Sudan, Yemen, Syria, and other Muslim lands, all due to the absence of an Imam under whom they seek protection and fight behind.

O Noble Ummah,

The mention of the destruction of the Khilafah is not for lamentation or mere historical narration, recounting how we were a great Ummah leading the world and how, without it, we became a humiliated Ummah without value or weight. An Ummah whose sanctities and honors have been violated, and whose blood has been spilled like rivers by colonialism and its agents. This anniversary is not a remembrance of a glorious past but a call for urgent and determined action to reestablish the Khilafah with the highest energy and at the fastest speed. How could it be otherwise when it is the political entity of Islam and the legitimate method for implementing its laws?

O Noble Ummah,

Allah Almighty commanded His Messenger (saw) to rule among the Muslims by what He has revealed, saying:

[فَاحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللهُ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءهُمْ عَمَّا جَاءكَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ]

“o judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth.” [Surat Al-Ma’ida:48]. And He (swt) also said:

[وَأَنِ احْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللهُ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءهُمْ وَاحْذَرْهُمْ أَن يَفْتِنُوكَ عَن بَعْضِ مَا أَنزَلَ اللهُ إِلَيْكَ]

“And judge, [O Muhammad], between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you.” [Surat Al-Ma’ida:49] The command to the Messenger (swt) is also a command to his Ummah unless a specific exemption is provided, which does not exist here. Thus, the command to establish the Khilafah is obligatory upon the Muslims.

As for the Sunnah, Muslim narrated from Nafi' that Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (saw) say:

«مَنْ خَلَعَ يَداً مِنْ طَاعَةٍ لَقِيَ اللهَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا حُجَّةَ لَهُ، وَمَنْ مَاتَ وَلَيْسَ فِي عُنُقِهِ بَيْعَةٌ مَاتَ مِيتَةً جَاهِلِيَّةً»

“One who withdraws his hand from obedience (to the Amir) will find no argument (in his defense) when he stands before Allah on the Day of Resurrection; and one who dies without having sworn allegiance will die the death of one belonging to the Days of Ignorance.” The Prophet (saw) obligated every Muslim to have a bayah (pledge of allegiance) on their neck, and he described those who die without it as having died an ignorant death. The pledge of allegiance (bay‘ah) is only for a Khalifah (Caliph), making it a duty for there to be a Khalifah whom every Muslim must pledge allegiance to.

Al-Mawardi stated in Al-Ahkam As-Sultaniyyah: “The Imamate is established as a succession to prophethood in safeguarding the religion and governing worldly affairs, and its appointment upon the Ummah is a duty by consensus.”

An-Nawawi also affirmed in his commentary on Sahih Muslim: “There is consensus that it is obligatory upon Muslims to appoint a Khalifah (Caliph).”

The Khilafah Islamiya (Islamic Caliphate) and unifying the Ummah under a single ruler who governs by the law of Allah, on the method of Prophethood, is the highest goal in a Muslim’s life today. It is among the greatest objectives of Islam and the loftiest form of unity and cohesion that Allah and His Messenger commanded. Allah Almighty said:

[وَإِنَّ هَذِهِ أُمَّتُكُمْ أُمَّةً وَاحِدَةً وَأَنَا رَبُّكُمْ فَٱتَّقُونِ] “And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me.” [Surat Al-Mu'minun:52]. And He said:

[وَاعْتَصِمُوا بِحَبْلِ اللهِ جَمِيعاً وَلَا تَفَرَّقُوا] “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.” [Surat Aal-i-Imran:103]. Instead of division, fragmentation, and humiliation.

O Muslims,

The Khilafah is the command of your Lord, the glad tidings of your Prophet (saw), the source of your honor, and the force that will crush your enemies. So be among those who work sincerely for its reestablishment. Do your souls not long for jihad in the path of Allah? Where are those who will answer the call of “O Mu’tasim!” in the face of your rulers' betrayal and abandonment of you?

The call to reestablish the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly-guided Caliphate) on the method of Prophethood, which Hizb ut Tahrir works for, transcends the artificial borders imposed by colonialists after they destroyed the Uthmani Khilafah (Ottoman Caliphate). It is a global call for all Muslims, as it is a general leadership for them. The party has prepared a draft constitution derived from the Qur’an and Sunnah, covering matters of economy, foreign policy, war, society, education, health, finance, and all aspects necessary for its implementation from day one, with Allah’s permission. Its signs are becoming apparent, and the masses of Muslims long for it.

We invite you to work with us sincerely and diligently for its reestablishment, O Muslims, in response to the words of Allah Almighty:

[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَأَنَّهُ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ]

“O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered” [Surat Al-Anfal:24].
