The Jordanian–European Strategic Partnership Summit
Mortgaging Jordan and Its People in Service of Colonial Interests

King Abdullah II held the first summit with leaders of the European Union in Amman, in the presence of the President of the European Council António Costa and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, on Thursday, 8/1/2026. During the summit, prospects for strategic cooperation between the two sides were discussed. King Abdullah and von der Leyen had previously signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement in Brussels in January 2025, and the European Union (EU) announced a financial aid package to Jordan amounting to 3 billion euros for the period between 2025–2027.

A joint statement consisting of 21 points was issued at the conclusion of the summit, stating that the summit marked an important milestone in relations between Jordan and the EU, which had been elevated a year earlier to a comprehensive strategic partnership. The King affirmed that the summit represents an important chapter in the historical partnership between Jordan and the EU. Von der Leyen considered Jordan to be a key partner for the European Union in the Middle East, addressing the King by saying: “You are our pivotal partner in the Middle East.” Meanwhile, Costa stated at the Jordanian European summit: “It is very important now that like-minded partners work together as reliable friends who can be depended upon.”

In light of what are termed regional and international challenges, the regime in Jordan, since its inception, has sought to protect and ensure the continuity of its existence and stability by relying on and subordinating itself to Western colonial powers that created it, such as Britain, and that support its survival, such as America, especially as awareness has grown of its geopolitical importance, alongside America’s shift toward its modern national security strategy and its adoption of “America First,” which redefines relations with Europe by transforming them from a strategic partnership into a relationship based on mutual interest. Europe is no longer a priority for American protection, with the possibility of abandoning NATO, and with the Middle East being managed remotely on the basis of partnership and investment. In this context, the importance of the so-called strategic partnership between the European Union and Jordan emerges, in light of the foremost functional objective of maintaining the Jewish entity and its security relations with it.

Although the conflict in the region is being pulled by Western colonial capitalist powers that differ in their methods and plans for acquiring influence and material benefits through the plundering of wealth, they nevertheless agree on their overarching strategic colonial objective: preventing the return of Islam embodied in its state. The regime in Jordan participates with them in this strategy under the pretext of the “war on terror.”

Thus, political, security, and military partnerships with the Western colonial disbelieving states, in addition to being prohibited, Allah Almighty says:

[وَلَن يَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلاً]

“And Allah will never grant to the disbelievers a way over the believers.”[Surat An-Nisā’:141]. The regime seeks through them to reinforce its existence and prove its worthiness and entitlement to Western subordination. There is no benefit for the people of Jordan in this whatsoever; rather, their resources are thrown in and exhausted as fuel for political conflicts and Jewish colonial ambitions of Europe and America, in light of recent developments in American strategy and withdrawal from international organizations. The European partnership agreement with Jordan is not separate from these conflicts, which aim to use Jordan as an advanced tool in achieving their interests, exactly as America does. Both are supporters of the Jewish entity and of its war on Islam, and both seek to prevent the establishment of its state.

O People of Jordan… O Muslims:

Evil has spread in its ugliest forms across the world, corruption has become manifest, and it has taken on satanic dimensions unimaginable except by the leaders of capitalist states, as they trample on their own democracy and values for material gains. They harness the highest levels of technology for domination and arrogance, and abandon the international law they themselves crafted, for the sake of influence and control, while rulers of the Muslims still cling to that same law to resolve their issues, drinking from its bitter consequences. Trump discards it altogether, occupying Venezuela and plundering its oil and minerals, and intends to purchase Greenland by coercion or inducement, using the same European logic by which Europe previously seized control of lands, including Muslim lands.

The time has come to put an end to this tyranny, arrogance, and its tools, tyranny that did not exist during the era of the Khilafah (Caliphate). With its removal, corruption and injustice spread across all of humanity, and particularly upon the Islamic Ummah. Who then stands against this tyrant that has blackened the world with injustice and oppression? It is Islam and the State of Khilafah, for whose establishment Hizb ut Tahrir has worked since its inception, as it is the guardian of the Deen and worldly affairs. Victory from Allah does not come, Muslim lands are not liberated, and colonial disbelievers are not expelled except by its establishment. We will not tire of addressing the Islamic Ummah and its armies to work earnestly and sincerely with us to establish it, for it is salvation for the Ummah and for a world searching for alternatives to the tyrannical global order.

[وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنْكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْأَرْضِ]

“Allah has promised those among you who believe and do righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession upon the earth…”[Surat An-Nūr :5]
