On October 18, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court acquitted the accused Shahrukh Jatoi, of murder in the notorious Shahzeb murder case. Although this verdict sparked public condemnation, it was not unexpected. In dozens of previous verdicts, including the Nazim Jokhi, Raymond Davis, Abdul Majeed Achakzai cases, courts have given colonialists and other powerful people a way to escape through various legal loopholes.

Pakistan’s Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on 8th October 2022, Saturday, addressed the passing-out parade of 146th Long Course at Pakistan Military Academy. The address was certainly not befitting of the head of an army that is the sixth largest army in the world, considered the ninth most powerful, possessing nuclear and ballistic missiles.

The PDM government is facing intense public anger due to the severe currency crisis, and the resulting inflationary storm. To calm the public, the government has announced that the Finance Minister, Miftah Ismail, has been replaced by Ishaq Dar, who has been given the task of stabilizing the value of the Rupee.

On 5 September 2022, Pakistan’s Senator Mushtaq Ahmad presented the bill for amendments in the Transgender Protection Act to the Senate Standing Committee on Human Rights. During the meeting, Senator Mushtaq Ahmad, said that, “Transgender is an American term, it has no place in Islam, and the legislation regarding the transgender community is against Quran and Sunnah and it will promote homosexuality.”
