Motives and Objectives of a British Official's Visit to Uzbekistan

On May 13, 2025, Lord Cocker, the British Minister of State for Defense, made an official visit to Uzbekistan. This visit is significant as it is the first official visit to Uzbekistan by a representative of the newly formed British government. During his visit, he met with the Uzbek military leadership, including Deputy Defense Minister Colonel General Hamdam Qarshiyev and Commander of the National Guard Lieutenant General Rustam Juraev. These meetings reaffirmed the UK's commitment to deepening bilateral defense cooperation with Uzbekistan. Lord Cocker also delivered a speech at the Uzbekistan Armed Forces Academy, the first time a British Defense Minister has spoken at the academy.

Although this visit is described as "cooperation," it is clear to anyone with political awareness that it is driven by colonial interests and objectives. It is well known that one of the main methods of British colonial policy was the training of permanently loyal personnel.

The British Defense Secretary's visit to the Uzbek Military Academy is more than just a visit. Kun.uz reported on March 17, 2018, that "it was emphasized that the implementation of the measures included in the bilateral military cooperation plan between the two countries' defense ministries, signed by British representatives in January 2018, will form the basis of international cooperation between the two countries. The plan includes the exchange of expertise in various areas of military cooperation, as well as the training of Uzbek military personnel at higher military educational institutions in Britain. The plan also includes the participation of British military specialists in training operations at military educational institutions in Uzbekistan, the exchange of expertise in the field of military medicine, and joint training and training programs."

Based on such reports, it is not difficult to understand the true purpose of the British Defense Minister's visit. Uzbekistan has now become a major target for colonial powers and a geopolitical arena where an irreconcilable struggle for influence and power is taking place among them. Under such circumstances, Britain will naturally seek its share based on its traditional policy.

Therefore, Lord Cocker's visit can be understood as meaning: "We are also in the great game."

Britain is one of the largest colonial powers attempting to spread its influence throughout the world. It is one of the fiercest enemies of Islam and Muslims. It was the one that overthrew the Ottoman Khilafah (Caliphate), divided the Islamic Ummah, plunged a dagger into its heart, and established the usurping Jewish entity in Palestine. Between 1917 and 1924, it was the one that incited strife between Arabs and Turks in Islamic countries and led efforts to eliminate the Ottoman Khilafah. Britain did not content itself with dividing Muslim lands; it established puppet regimes and artificial borders, dividing the Ummah. This policy continues to serve it, as the Ummah remains without a state or a guardian!

Britain not only gave the blessed land of Palestine to the usurping Jews, but it also supports their brutal massacres that they have been committing in Gaza and Palestine for 19 months.

The rulers who sit on our chests are only concerned with preserving their thrones by serving the interests of the colonial infidels. Whatever they do, they will never consider them their own. Allah Almighty reminds Muslims of this in the Holy Quran, saying:

[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ لاَ تَتَّخِذُواْ بِطَانَةً مِّن دُونِكُمْ لاَ يَأْلُونَكُمْ خَبَالاً وَدُّواْ مَا عَنِتُّمْ قَدْ بَدَتِ الْبَغْضَاء مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَمَا تُخْفِي صُدُورُهُمْ أَكْبَرُ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الآيَاتِ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ]

“O believers! Do not associate closely with others who would not miss a chance to harm you. Their only desire is to see you suffer. Their prejudice has become evident from what they say—and what their hearts hide is far worse. We have made Our revelations clear to you, if only you understood.” [Ali 'Imran 3:118], and Allah Almighty says:

[وَلَنْ تَرْضَى عَنْكَ الْيَهُودُ وَلَا النَّصَارَى حَتَّى تَتَّبِعَ مِلَّتَهُمْ]

“Never will the Jews or Christians be pleased with you, until you follow their faith.” [Al-Baqarah 2:120]
