Nations That Can Deliver a True Vision of Change

A nation is defined as the “collection of people united by laws, beliefs, language, or a territory, amongst other things.” In this manner, we can see the UK, US, or France as nations, as the inhabitants share and follow the same laws and systems and speak the same language. However, the presence of laws, systems, beliefs, or a shared language does not mean that those same attributes will bring successful change for the Ummah.

This is why it is necessary for the Muslim Ummah to define what qualities a successful nation needs to possess if it wishes to bring forth a true vision for change.

The ideology is the stepping stone to a successful nation. It is the source of all laws, beliefs, and systems within a nation and serves as a bond between people. However, despite the importance of ideology, not all lead to a successful nation.

In this manner, we can see that Capitalism, which was introduced and popularized between 1760–1840 during the Industrial Revolution, has already reached the end of its life and is now on life support. This decline is exemplified by the increase in political turmoil in countries such as the US, where citizens stand against nearly every decision made by the state, which is based on Capitalism and the desire to safeguard it.

Further proof of the failure of Capitalism can be found in the increased acceptance of Islam and its Aqeedah (doctrine), which have been present for over 1400 years without ever changing. These converts come from a population raised on the idea that religion should not be part of public life. Women who were raised on the belief that Islam oppressed people, and that the hijab was a sign of oppression, now proudly revendicate their love for ALLAH and their pride in wearing the hijab.

No nation can be successful when its foundation is breaking after 600 years. No vision for true change can be brought forth by a nation based on an ideology that is already crumbling after 600 years.

Alongside ideology, a successful nation must also unite its citizens through laws and systems, which emanate from the ideology. For 1400 years, Islam has served as the glue that has bound the Islamic Nation. Muslims lived amongst each other with no care for skin colour, origin, or race. They were united by the systems of Islam, which dictated their actions. They did not steal because ALLAH (swt) forbade it. They did not rape because ALLAH forbade it. They did not commit Zina because ALLAH forbade it.

They did not look at another Muslim and question whether they had legally entered the country. They did not look at another Muslim and assume they were the enemy because of their skin color. They did not fight their brothers and sisters because they practiced another religion.

The Islamic Nation thrived, grew, and spread across the globe because the Islamic Aqeedah united its people not with money or a passport, not with imaginary borders, and not with crumbling systems.

It unified the Ummah into one nation based on the knowledge that ALLAH (swt) created man, life, and the universe, that HE swt came before it, and that HE (swt) will judge us after it. It unified the Ummah into a nation because it provided the nation with laws, systems, and beliefs emanating from the understanding that the One who created us will judge us based on our actions and whether they are in accordance with His rulings.
