"O Muslims of Europe! Do not allow them to tarnish your Islam"

Some European countries have seen bloody events in the past few months, there were bombings in France, Belgium and Germany that led to many civilian casualties, which has exacerbated matters for Muslims living in the European continent. However, it was extremely difficult for Muslims as they were the main suspects views under great scrutiny and suspicion, and they were targeted in their religion, then came the bombings to add insult to injury, increasing the pressure on the Muslim community. The governments took strict measures against Muslims. The French authorities, for example, expelled imams what it called extremists and preachers of hatred and closed many mosques, it has been reported by some media that French authorities are forcing some Muslims stores to sell alcohol and pork. Meanwhile the right-wing parties and the media exploited these attacks to charge Europeans against Muslims and driving them to extremism, terrorism and the demonization of some of the concepts of Islam including the concept of jihad.

Against this fraught atmosphere the members of Hizb ut Tahrir in the Netherlands on Sunday, August 9, 2016 organized a lecture in Amsterdam under the title "O Muslims in Europe: Do not let them distort Islam." Speakers discussed the political conditions that prevailed in the European continent of the climate of fear which now dominate the people of Europe and the Muslim community alike after the attacks, and our role as a community in a Muslim under these circumstances.
