Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Turkey Organized its Annual Ramadan Iftar 1440 AH in Istanbul under the Motto “Ramadan is the Time of Awakening”

On the 8^th of Ramadan, 1440 AH, representatives of the Turkish Media and NGOs gathered at the Ramadan Iftar program of Hizb ut Tahrir at the Topkapı Social Facilities.

The motto of this year’s Iftar Activities, organised in many Turkish cities throughout Ramadan is “Ramadan is the Time of Awakening”. Media representatives from Yeni Akit Newspaper, Milat Newspaper, İlke News Agency and TRT World participated in the event. Representatives of NGOs, foundations and associations such as Mazlumder, Özgürder, Kalemder, Maruf Mescidi, İlkav, İmam Buhari Vakfı, Akdav, Kur’an’a Hizmet Vakfı, Siyer Vakfı, Mustazaflar Cemiyeti, Uluslararası Kudüs Eğitim ve Araştırma Derneği, Suriye İlim Derneği, Tokadder, Okurder, Mumder, Hira Derneği, Ümmetin Sesi Derneği, Tevhid Dergisi, Edirne İslâm Gençliği, Islah ve Davet Cemiyeti, Tembih Medreseleri as well as other guests were welcomed. Businessmen, lawyers, academicians, doctors, political party representatives and writers also participated in the event. The program also included participants from Palestine, Syria, East Turkestan, Uzbekistan and Central Asia.

The event at the Topkapı Social Facilities of Fatih Municipality began with the Quran recitation and Iftar invocation of Hafez Mehmet Akif. Following the short opening speech of Ramazan Gümüş, Istanbul representative of Köklü Değişim Medya, Mahmut Kar, Director of the Media Office of Hizb ut Tahrir in Wilayah Turkey and General Coordinator of Köklü Değişim Media, held the welcoming speech.

Mahmut Kar thanked the guests for their participation in the Iftar program and shortly introduced the “Ramadan is the Time of Awakening” campaign. Kar said that the Muslims welcomed the month of Ramadan again with pain and sorrow, and that the occupation, invasion and exploitation in Islamic lands even intensified in the month of Ramadan.

He remarked, that the Muslims are like in a state of sleep, and that it is not slogans, heroism, or Western thoughts like secularism, democracy or nationalism; that will wake Muslims from this sleep; rather it is the system of Islam, upon its comprehensive implementation in all aspects of life. Kar said, “The Westerners have their state and authorities, and they are powerful in spreading their ideologies and beliefs; but we as Muslims, we have no state and no authority. Therefore we pray that this will be the last Ramadan that we live without the Khilafah Rashida and without the unity of the Ummah!”

Then, theologian and author Abdullah Imamoğlu, Head of the Central Contact Committee of Hizb ut Tahrir, gave a short speech. Speaking of the righteous deeds in his speech, Abdullah Imamoglu underlined that alongside fasting and prayers during the month of Ramadan, the most important of the righteous deeds is the work to initiate the Islamic life, which is only possible through the establishment of the Khilafah Rashida (rightly guided Caliphate) upon the method of the Prophethood.

After Abdullah Imamoğlu's short speech, the event ended with his invocation.
