Another Attempt to make Muslims Renounce their Islamic identity

On the 25th of April 2017, it was stated in the media that a teacher working at a primary school in Luleå was reported to incite the community in connection with the construction of a mosque, by calling the Prophet Muhammad a pedophile and accusing Islam for being oppressive towards women. The teacher retained his job, despite the report. The principal of the primary school at the municipality of Luleå, did not feel that the termination of the teacher was possible as freedom of speech prevents it.

On Friday morning the 11th of August the same year, various media reported that substitute teachers were forced to leave their jobs at a school on suspicions of being extremists. They were fired for no reason except “suspicions of links to extremism”, which in itself is an extremely weak reason. To fire employees after suspicions and gut feelings pave the way for systematic treatment of people with other convictions and, in turn, leads to tension and fragmentation in society which harms the social fears that everyone should have for their eyes.

The treacherous apostates’ hunt on Muslims continues in order to distance them from their Islamic view of life and break down their Islamic identity. Extremism is among the latest terms used to stamp some ideas as dangerous and to scare the crowds. The term ‘extremism’ is used by Western politicians instead of all non-democratic ideas in order to defend their secular opinion and control, even though they are outwardly waving with the flair of multiculturalism and freedom of speech. Freedom of expression is, in practice, nothing but an unreasonable tool in the hands of politicians that they use when they consider it appropriate.

This is an attempt to make Muslims choose between being an accepted citizen in Sweden with equal opportunities or preserving their Islamic identity where they are denied these equal opportunities. We assure supervisors, politicians and the media that the choices of Muslims are clear. Muslims will adhere to Islam and will continue to do so in the future.

It is Muslims who strive to be an active part of this society and contribute to it, but entrepreneurs, supervisors, politicians, the media and the European Court of Justice recently, are taking such actions that contribute to isolation and segregation in society by signaling out Muslim women who wear the veil and other Muslims who refuse to leave their Islamic values.

This hatred against Islam can only be seen as a sign of inability and intellectual poverty from the Western culture to present a sustainable argument against Islam.

We in Hizb ut Tahrir in Scandinavia therefore call for an honest debate about Islam instead of hiding behind shameful acts that are not appropriate at all for the representatives of a society, which claims to be open and welcoming people regardless of background, opinions or beliefs.
