The Khilafah (Caliphate) Is Not a Choice, But a Shariah Obligation and a Political Necessity
(Translated)

While Muslims spend the days of the blessed month of Ramadan in worship and devotion, filled with goodness and blessings, they also remember the dark day of March 3rd in their history—the day the Khilafah (Caliphate) was destroyed. March 3rd is the day their protective shield was broken, their unity shattered, Islam was completely excluded from their political and social lives, their Ummah lost its dignity, and it tasted humiliation to its very core. On that day, they were divided into numerous peoples, and the lands of Islam were partitioned into nation-states.

One hundred and two years have passed since the fall of the Khilafah. During its long absence, the Jews usurped the blessed land of Palestine. The French committed genocide in Algeria for twenty years, killing more than a million Muslims. The Russians in Central Asia forced Muslims—Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, Turkmen, Tatars, and Crimeans—into displacement and exile. The kafir (disbelieving) America committed rape, injustice, and massacres in Iraq and Afghanistan, leaving millions of children orphaned. Today, it attacks Iran alongside the Jewish entity. Communist China has been killing Uyghur Muslims in East Turkestan for decades under severe torture. Buddhists destroyed and burned Kashmir and Arakan. Western colonial powers plundered all the wealth of the Muslim world. While the puppet regimes in Muslim countries live in luxury and extravagance, they have subjected Muslims to hunger, poverty, misery, and injustice.

All these events that have occurred over the course of a century demonstrate that the only power capable of ending the occupation and massacres in our lands, ending the division and fragmentation, reuniting us under one banner, and protecting our lives, wealth, and honour, is the Khilafah Rashidah (Rightly Guided Caliphate).

For this reason, we in Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah of Turkey organized events in 50 different locations across Turkey under the title: “The Khilafah is not an option, but a Shariah Obligation,” in order to ensure that the dark day of March 3rd is not forgotten and to remind people of the Khilafah. Muslims participated in these events from the east to the west of the country, and from the south to the north. It was emphasized that establishing the Khilafah Rashidah is not merely an option, but a Shariah and political necessity for all Muslims. It was also emphasized that the Khilafah is a Shariah ruling, that its establishment is an obligation, and that many other obligations are dependent on its existence. We ask Allah to reward all the Muslims who participated in these events with the best of rewards, and to make these efforts a means of establishing the Khilafah Rashidah.

Ruling according to the laws (Ahkam) revealed by Allah can only be achieved through a state. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) implemented Islamic law through the Islamic state, and after his passing, the caliphs who succeeded him ruled according to Islam. Unfortunately, some minds today, influenced by Western culture and alienated from their Deen, claim that the Khilafah is not mentioned in the Quran or Islam, and that Islam does not require the establishment of a state! The truth is that the Quran and Sunnah contain dozens of texts indicating that establishing the Khilafah is an obligation. Allah (swt) says:

[فَاحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءهُمْ عَمَّا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْحَقِّ]

“So judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their desires over the truth that has come to you” [Al-Ma’idah: 48]

The Khilafah is a Shariah, political, economic, and military necessity. For Muslims, it is indispensable, indeed it is a vital issue and a question of existence or non-existence; it is their primary concern, and it will inevitably be established because it is a promise from Allah (swt) and glad tidings from the Messenger of Allah (saw).
